Free Essays on Yom Kippur

On Yom Kippur, the holiest day of the Jewish year, Jewish people fast and say prayers of atonement. As explained the essay, â€Å"Yom Kippur: The Day Without Forgiveness† written by Elie Weisel in 1968, this holiday seemed to cause more anguish and confusion to the people of the Jewish religion than anything else. In concentration camps during the holocaust, many people seemed to abandon their faith and began to hate the God and teachings that they had once believed in so adherently. Like many people thought the world, they seemed to turn their backs when they seemed to need their faith the most. If one came across a situation so bad that he would feel he had to give up on his beliefs, why should one bother belonging to a religion in the first place? In this work, by Weisel, we see a middle aged man, in the beginning, refusing to fast for the holiday and accusing his believed God to be a stranger. Through tradition and learned fundamentals of a religion, people, in a way, submit themselves to a higher being, to someone or thing that they believe will help them to live the way they should. If a person has enough faith in them to spend their whole lives praying and obeying a certain divinity, they should have no reason to abandon what they’ve known all their lives. Most religions seem to exist based on the need of a superior controller, a need of something to look to when they need help that they can’t seek anyone else for. Reliance on a distinguished existence seems to give people hope and assistance. I don’t see how one can be mad at their â€Å"Go d† for having someth! ing bad happen. If all people of every religion followed this lead, it would seem absurd having any kind of religion. In this essay, an older man, Pinhas, said to be about forty years old, talks to a fifteen-year-old boy, declaring that he is not going to fast for Yom Kippur in rebelliousness towards God and his teachings in the Jewish religion. Yom Kippur, which means "Day of Atonement," is the holiest day of the Jewish year. Yom Kippur is a day of "self-denial" so that they may be cleansed of their sins. It is observed eight days after Rosh Hashanah. It is believed that on Rosh Hashanah God inscribes all of their names in the "books", and on Yom Kippur the judgment entered in these books is sealed. The days between Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur are called the Days of Awe. Yom Kippur is, essentially, their last chance to demonstrate repentance and change the judgment. Repentance is the theme of Yom Kippur. While sins alienate people from God, our repentance reconciles us with God. On Yom Kippur, they will ask for God to forgive them for their sins. The first Yom Kippur occurred when Moses descended Mount Sinai with the second set of Tablets, a symbol of the renegotiated covenant between God and the Jewish People. God decreed the tenth day of the month of Tishrei as a day of atonement: Let it be a statute for you forever: in the seventh month, on the tenth of the month, you shall starve your vital energies and do no manner of work.... For on this day it shall bring atonement upon you, to purify you, before God shall you become pure of all your aberrations. (Leviticus 16: 29-30) Yom Kippur is the only fast day decreed in the Bible. It is a complete, 25-hour fast beginning before sunset on the evening before Yom Kippur and ending after nightfall on the day of Yom Kippur. The Jewish communities are supposed to refrain from eating and drinking (even water) on Yom Kippur. It is a day set aside to "afflict the soul," to atone for the sins of the past year. On Yom Kippur they focus on spiritual elevation. One way to do this is to abstain from the physical such as food, sex, work, material possessions, and superficial pleasures. More specifically, these five physical activities are forbidde... Free Essays on Yom Kippur On Yom Kippur, the holiest day of the Jewish year, Jewish people fast and say prayers of atonement. Texan Foods Case Study Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 500 words

Texan Foods - Case Study Example Benefits derived from the collaborative sharing of information through the system are numerous. Businesses attain less stock-outs, more accurate and better forecasts, more powerful visibility of stocks, increased sales, a lower on-hand inventory, and a decrease in the costs of goods sold. The above mentioned benefits motivated the employees of Texan Foods and Valley Backers to aid a hand to ensure the success of the pivot study conducted. Despite the increase in the sales of some of the commodities offered by Texan Foods, there were various problems that needed to be addressed. The forecasts had been out-spaced by the inventory holdings of some category of stock such as backed goods. Moreover, the supply metrics for these commodities did not meet their mark. In addition to these, there was an unexpected rise in the stock-outs at the Distribution Centers from 5% to 7%. The percentage was steadily rising to 10%. Valley Backers, one of the suppliers was also expressing their concerns regarding the inconsistencies in the stock orders. The implementation of the system faced very many challenges. Preliminary agreements between the firm and Valley Backers were drafted. The type of product to be piloted and the level of collaboration required were agreed upon. However, both companies had different expectations on the methodology of carrying out the pilot study. We wanted to start at a slow rate, sharing only a small range of data on pricing and sales, while Valley Backers wanted complete access to all the databases including competitors’ products and pricing data. We did not agree on the number of products to be tested and the duration of the pilot study. Moreover, employees who had shown much enthusiasm for the system lost their morale as the time elapsed. However, some employees who were hesitant at the beginning became more willing to take up the task and assist in its

Strategic Management Accounting Coursework Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 2000 words

Strategic Management Accounting - Coursework Example The group has diversified its business to a vast magnitude in the past few years in various sectors for a successful venture. This particular strength has further helped the company to develop a strong brand and gain an impressive reputation in the market. In the similar context, it can also be argued that the brand reputation of the organisation is creating pressure on its management to preserve its success record and suffice the customers’ demand with consistent performances. Due to massive diversification, the corporate group has also faced few issues with respect to its services and strategic management initiatives. The business has accordingly been using the concept of brand stretching for its various products as well as services. With regard to Fransoko Group, strategic management is an important consideration required for the success of the business. There are various strategic factors that affect the business and its success, such as the management style, financial per formance as well as other relevant aspects, as can be apparently observed from the case reference. Industry rivalry- Fransoko will face intense rivalry from its competitors to enter the new market. To attain the required market share, the company will need to appoint skilled managers to accomplish their objectives. Although the personality of the Chairman deciphers his effective leadership abilities, it shall not be sufficient in meeting the intense rivalry and hence, proper strategic planning will be required. Bargaining Power of the suppliers- Suppliers need to provide resources on regular basis for the company to develop its market worldwide. Quality along with the reliability of the supplier is also deemed as an important issue, which needs to be mitigated by managing the resources effectively. Bargaining Power of the buyers- The bargaining power of the buyer is high in the industry context of Fransoko and therefore, it is

Response to a Midsummer Nights Dream Essay Example for Free

Response to a Midsummer Nights Dream Essay I grew interested in the play’s conflict, since it seems modern day typical. I, for one, enjoy watching love stories and dramas. This play, served just that purpose. Reading of the avenged lover’s, Hermia and Lysander, plan to run into the forest to marry seemed likely to be seen on a Wednesday night, 9:00PM, drama series. Which, I absolutely love! Then, the play takes a twist from reality. Helena acquires information related to Hermia and Lysander’s plan to marry, which provides her initiative to tell Demetrius. She intends on winning back the love of Demetrius. The two of them go out in search of the Lysander and Hermia, and find that they’ve all landed themselves in a forest filled with â€Å"fairies. † When introduced to the idea of fairies, I was a bit distraught. I was filled with enjoyment because the plot seemed so realistic! Discouraged from reading the play, I found myself wondering, what on earth could be the position of these fairies in the forest? Noticing that I was wondering about the fairies, made me realize that I actually was interested; otherwise I wouldn’t be thinking about it. What a premeditated man Shakespeare is! These fairies were passionate about disrupting the love affairs of surrounding humans. Ha! He just made it more interesting. By entrance into the fairy-infested woods, the romantic lives of these couples converted to very complicated. Oberon, the King, and Titania, the Queen of all the forest fairies lead and direct Puck, or Robin, as he achieves his mischievous tactics. Oberon, decided upon mismatching the lovers as a consequence for their disturbance. He refers Puck to the power of a magical, love-bringing flower. A flower that can literally teach someone to love, why can’t we have that in real life? Puck, being clumsily skillful, uses the magic against the wrong person! He played the magic trick on Lysander instead of Demetrius, the intended target. As a result, he falls in love with the first person he see’s after awakening, Helena. Trying to undo his mistake, Puck makes Demetrius fall in love with Helena as well. Hermia is now very upset. He created pure chaos, and just the way I like it. Firstly, I am not a fan of the comedy in this play. However, Shakespeare casually, yet competently, creates a mix of humor and love. The artisans are portrayed as foolish while imitating the play of â€Å"Pyramis and Thysby. They mock words in the play, for instance when Bottom says, â€Å"Thisbe, the flowers of odious savors sweet—,† Quince corrects him with, â€Å"Odors,† â€Å"odors. † â€Å"Odious† is another word for unpleasant, while â€Å"odors† pertains to the fragrant smell of â€Å"sweet† flowers. It makes me snicker at the th ought of messing up a line so simple and a word so ironic from it’s original. Yet it feels unrelated and sort of disconnects my thought from the play. I will however say, the thought of the Athenian’s head turning into that of an Ass is a bit amusing. I find that humor is necessary when writing works filled with such seriousness and drama, it just happens to be that I am not a fan. I found this play exciting and pleasantly full of drama. Shakespeare’s works of literature are all fabulous in many different ways through use of common themes such as love and dreams. The love of these couples was at first true, but then foolishly played around with. Hermia felt mocked by Lysander and Demetrius, a feeling that most females often feel when men act in this manner. She was accustomed to these men being in love with her, and then they suddenly were in love with Helena. By morning Puck is able to undo all the spells, making all well again. They engage in a group wedding, marrying Helena and Demetrius, and Lysander and Hermia. The end of the play involves the fairies sprinkling dust to protect these couples in the future. Puck also remains to ask for forgiveness and to remember the play as though it was all a dream. The theme of love and dreams combine in this play making it an excellent eye-opener. Sometimes, things must happen for all to go the way one pleases. I enjoyed this play from beginning to end because of its realistic encounters mixed with the ideas fantasy.

Saddam Hussein :: essays research papers

Saddam Hussein   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  The Middle East is an extremely volatile region of the world, and much of the current instability may be due to one man, Saddam Hussein. During the last few years, under Hussein's direction, Iraq has gone from being an oil rich country to a country that is suffering major embargoes and is low on supplies. Iraqi leaders are trying to leave as they realize how power can corrupt a man. If Hussein stays in power, the future looks bleak for the Gulf region.   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Iraq used to be a prosperous country. Oil was the main source of income for the area. During the Iran-Iraq War (Gulf War 1), which was from September 1980 to August 1988, Iraq went from being a wealthy country to a very poor country, nearly over night. Hussein had used all energy available in that war, and he came out of it losing over 1/3 of the entire male population of Iraq (Allman 61). Saddam feels that is actions were justified because he believes the Iran-Iraq war was a conspiracy by the US, Britain, and Israel to undermine Iraq (Kondrache 11). This leads people of the world to believe that this is a man who will stop at nothing to achieve what he wants. He was willing to risk his whole nation for a more money. High financial priorities? Survey says â€Å"yes† .   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  The basis on which Hussein is in power is controversial. He was not elected to his position, he took it. There was a military coup in 1968 that led him and his Ba'ath party to power. He was not elected, as until last year, there had not been an election since the coup (Cooperman 49). This says that Hussein has been a tyrant from the start, and his need for power is incredible. He wants complete domination of the Middle East, if not the world.   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Iraq is now a country struggling to survive. It is in the midst of an embargo, and the people are suffering. Death rates are up, and the amount of food available is declining. Saddam is displaced from his people, though. He is not feeling the same effects as they are.   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  The Pursian Gulf War erupted in 1990 with Hussein ordering an invasion of neighboring Kuwait, on the grounds that Kuwait was stealing oil from in Iraqi oil field. The US became involved in this war for the next year, and they successfully pushed Iraq out of Kuwait. Iraq, however, feels that it won this war. The leaders of Iraq were still in power after the war ended, so the

Film and Popular Cinema Essay

After reading this week’s assignment and researching different types of film and popular cinema, I have realized some of the differences between the two. I always thought they were the same thing but found that to be far from the truth. Film is a way of putting art into motion. I viewed several pieces on different websites, in particular, on YouTube. I watched one called White Noise. It had no plot or storyline, but showed very interesting art concepts and pieces. Many artists made work addressing social, sexual and racial issues, renewing links with what survived of the ‘community video’ movement of the 1970s. By 1990 video installations had featured in several large international exhibitions and were a familiar presence in galleries and museums, assuming fresh authority through the work of such artists as Gary Hill and Marie-Jo Lafontaine. Read more:  Philippine Cinema Analysis Essay Artists making single-screen work exhibited increasingly on television, and the medium of video was merging with that of the computer. Film, no longer novel nor wholly dependent on a gallery context, had become part of an increasingly elaborate network of electronic communication (Mick Hartney, 2009). Popular cinema is designed around selling tickets and making money at the expense of catering to the demands of global audiences. An example of popular cinema is any of the Twilight movies. They are movies produced from the novels written by Stephanie Meyer. The first movie was a huge success, making audience demand for a sequel a high priority of the producers and distribution companies. The same result came of the sequel and they made the third. Originally, the deal was to make a movie for each book, but if the movies did not succeed in the box office the projects would have been terminated. As, a matter of fact, it is so successful that the last movie based on the last book has been split in half to make two more subsequent movies instead of one. I find myself appreciating both of these forms of art. I have opened up when it comes to  the appreciation of art because I have learned the subtle, and some not so subtle differences between different art forms. References Hartney, M. (2009). Video Art. Teenage Curfew

When it comes to having a curfew, opinions can be wide spread about what it right and what is wrong. I believe though, that it is a parent’s decision whether or not they let their child out. As long as your parents know where you are, you aren’t doing anything dangerous or illegal, and you always have somebody with you in case something happens, then you shouldn’t have to worry about a curfew or getting punished for something that is perfectly harmless. When you are out after dark, always make sure your parents know where you are. You don’t want to be somewhere without a way of contacting them. If they know where you are, then that makes the chances of them finding you a lot higher. Also, if they know where you are going, they have the option to tell you that no, you can’t go, or at least help you make choices about what you do when you get there. One other reason to make sure that your parents are aware of your location is so that they won’t have to worry about calling the police if they can’t seem to find you. It saves a lot of people a lot of trouble! As most teens would probably have to agree, if you aren’t doing anything illegal or dangerous, then why shouldn’t you be allowed out? When out after a certain time, yes, the police are out, but why should they be monitoring you if you aren’t doing anything against the law or dangerous? It makes you feel somewhat childish being watched all the time. You shouldn’t be getting punished for being out past a certain time because a lot of people may have late jobs or games that they are coming home from and it isn’t fair to penalize them for just coming home after a long day. No harm intended! Finally, when you are out past dark, always make sure you have a buddy with you. I mean, who doesn’t like company?! When you are alone, if you get hurt or get caught in a sticky situation, you might be incapable of calling for help. It’s always good to have someone with you so they can call for help if needed. Having a friend with you can also keep you from making wrong decisions. They can be a good second opinion on right and wrong, and keep you out of trouble. And we all know that the slammer is no fun place to be! These are just a few reasons that I have why you should be allowed out. If you aren’t doing anything dangerous or illegal, your parents know where you are, and you always have a friend with you, then your parents should be able to make the decision whether or not they want their child out after a certain time. You shouldn’t have to worry about being punished. After all, they police aren’t the ones who raised us. Thanks for taking the time to listen to my opinion about why teenagers should have to worry about a curfew.

20 Cause and Effect Essay Topics Climate Change Issues You Should Discuss in Your Paper If you are facing an essay on the economics of climate change, you need to first settle on a topic. Below are twenty great topics that you might be able to use for your writing assignment: The Growth of Solar Panel Installation Jobs Birds Change Migration Patterns and Other Animals Are Going Extinct because of Loss of Natural Habitat How Warmer Climates Kill Krill Shrimp and Influence Human Food Supply and Economic Costs How Scientists Measure Climate Change and Predict Problematic Changes in Weather How Melting Ice Caps Discourage Frequency of Hurricanes but Increase Severity How Climate Change Adversely Affects Agriculture Leading to Increased Economic Costs and Social Instability How Rising Sea Levels and More Severe Storms Affect Animals and Their Habitats Leading to Issues of National Security and Food Shortages The History of Solar Energy and Wind Energy Solar Thermal Energy and the Capture of Sun with Curved Mirrors Compared to Historical Solar Energy Methods How Wind Energy Derives from Solar Energy by Way of the Sun’s Hot Air Raising to Meet With Cooler Air Wind and Kinetic Energy Being Converted Into Electricity Compared To Costs of Traditional Energy How Capturing Wind Energy Requires Kinetic Energy with Electric Turbines Is Similar to Windmill Energy Collection How Wind Energy Fields Have Created Wind Energy Jobs How Economic Growth Is Affected by Climate Change How Faster Onset of Droughts and Food Shortages Influences Social Stability How Natural Disasters Like Floods or Hurricanes Threaten National Security How Humanitarian Crises Following Climate Change Require Government Responses How Military Assistance for Climate Change Disasters Increases the Need for Advanced Planning and Environmental Re-evaluation How Changes in Environmental Policy for Climate Change Require Additional Time and Money from Governments How Military Assistance for Climate Change Disasters Increases the Need for Environmental Re-evaluation Sample Cause Effect Essay on How Wind Energy Fields Have Created Wind Energy Jobs The process of capturing wind and solar energy takes the kinetic energy and turns it into electrical energy such as what a windmill does. To do this, a wind energy system is used which contains two electric turbines. The first is the vertical-axis and the second is the horizontal-axis. There is a tower to attract the wind, attached to an enclosed generator, the two blades which cause the rotation, and the electric equipment. When the wind and solar energy is collected and converted, it is transferred to nearing power lines. Currently, some turbines have a capacity to produce 5,000 kilowatts (kW) of energy. The average turbine, however, produces a mere 1,000 kW of energy. A kilowatt is one thousand watts which is measured as one kilowatt per hour. It takes a 50-watt light bulb left on for twenty hours to consume on kilowatt hour. Outside determinants of the energy produced from wind energy is based on the wind speed. The average wind speed needed for average productivity is winds blow ing at a rate of nine miles per hours. Typically, wind turbines run about sixty-five to ninety percent of the time, depending on winds. Wind energy is produced by the turbines at wind power plants which consist of a conglomerate of machines all functioning next to one another. Wind energy jobs are now becoming very prominent throughout the United States as the effort to go green and protect the environment moves forth. Wind energy jobs are available for both manual positions as well as high and low level administrative positions. A director of Grid Development is a higher end position within wind energy jobs. This position is the type to oversee the execution of strategic plans across a given business region which covers new transmission development opportunities. These wind energy jobs would include responsibilities such as negotiating between business partners to achieve the best parameters and terms of agreement alongside working with legal departments to draft final agreement documents. Regional stakeholders are responsible for input on current and future relationships to strategic partners. Therefore these wind energy jobs require constant evaluation for new opportunities and presenting proposals and company objectives. Other requirements for wind ene rgy jobs would be a slight knowledge of the field of wind energy with experience as a preferred measure. Positions of this nature do have higher requirements such as corporate development and finance experience, a Bachelor’s degree in business or engineering most often, as well as leadership experience. Wind energy jobs also include the position of Residential Energy Sales. Like any major company, field sales staff is needed to identify areas wherein energy efficiency needs improvement, as well as determining insulation levels within residential areas, any road blocks which might inhibit weather. These wind energy jobs also require sales teams to explain how wind energy is efficient, less expensive, and what measure would be needed for homeowners to begin using said energy forms. Energy auditors are required for wind energy jobs as their positions develop and manage energy audit programs which are responsible for calculating monthly and annual costs for residential and commercial buildings. Maintaining the advancement of wind energy as an efficient and sustainable energy source, and staying informed about technological advances in the field of wind energy as an alternative method are all viable qualities this type of personnel would require. Duties of these wind energy jobs would be maintaining energy reduction projects, developing new strategies for the reduction of environmental impact, and building energy audit programs within the wind energy industry. Other tasks would be analyzing historical energy uses, consumption patterns, any anomalies, and then taking said information to determine any target areas for improvement. Other more remedial duties would be reviewing documents, maintaining staff, schedules, and performance. Of course other options for wind energy jobs include alternative energy instructors or professional teachers, wind energy sales, mechanical engineers, mechanical designers, technical program managers, energy services specialists, marketing specialists, front desk receptionists, engineers, proposal coordinators, helpdesk specialists, construction managers, chief marketing officers, instructors, freelance writers, net programmers, campaign specialists, director of facility operations, sales professionals, software engineers, and controls engineers. Many of the aforementioned positions require a Bachelor’s degree in either engineering or business with ample room for growth and development. Some of the more astute positions require a Master’s degree in any of the related areas of study, and many seek individuals with experience in the given field or a passion for wind energy. Actuellement Is a French False Cognate

Actuellement Is a French False Cognate Mistakes will always be made in French, and now you can learn from them. French and English have hundreds of cognates, which are words that look alike or are pronounced the same in both languages. There are true cognates (similar meanings), false cognates (different meanings) and semi-false cognates (some similar, some different meanings). The French adverb actuellement looks an awful lot like the English word actually, but looks can be deceiving.  Its really the  case of a  false cognate, because these two words mean completely different things: Actuellement means at the present time and should be translated as right now or currently.  Actually means in fact and should be translated as  en fait,   vrai dire  or vraiment. Still, many people have not assimilated this lesson, and  actuellement  is mistakenly used to mean actually so often that  you  have to read the sentence two or three times to decide what the person actually means. How to Remember Which Is Which If you need a memory device, keep this in mind: Actualità ©Ã‚  refers to a  current event.  If you can remember this, you shouldnt have trouble remembering that actuellement and actually are false cognates with different meanings. Or you can remember the etymology. The root word of actually is actual, which means real or true. (Depending on the context, actual can be translated as  rà ©el,  vrai,  và ©ritable,  positif, or  concret.)  By extension then, actually means in fact. Meanwhile, the French root word for actuellement is the French adjective actuel, which means current or present. So actuellement  naturally refers to time as well and, by extension, means currently or right now. Examples of Correct Usage Je travaille actuellement. (I am currently working.)Le problà ¨me actuel (The current/present problem)Actually, I dont know him. (En fait, je ne le connais pas.)The actual value (La valeur rà ©elle)

Polaroid, R.I.P Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 750 words

Polaroid, R.I.P - Essay Example Post SX-70 Polaroid faced a number of unsuccessful inventions and business ventures which crafted the fall of the once hugely successful and innovative company which failed to keep pace with the even newer technologies developed in the industry (Whitford, 2001). The article gave all the credits of the rise and fall of Polaroid to its founder Edwin Land. According to Whitford it was he who had the vision of realizing the idea which was only a dream of a child at that time. The article cited Elkan Blout, the then vice president of research of Polaroid saying that Land had a unique ability to differentiate between an excellent idea and an excellent product. Keeping in mind the concept of value capture he was aware of the fact that not all the excellent ideas can be turned into an excellent commercial product and until commercialized any good invention remains latent without any profitability (Chesbrough and Rosenbloom, n.d.). While inventing new technologies Polaroid showed the successful application of the techniques of capturing values. Its first unique product was Model 95 which was accepted exceptionally in the photography market. But Polaroid did not stop here, it recognized the requirement of constant innovation and improvement to remain and grow in the market as a company. Thus it practiced constant research and development procedures under the supervision of Edwin Land to ultimately invent a product SX-70 which was stated to be a bundle of inventions including new motor, new power source, new optical system and most importantly a thoroughly new film with the ability to be dispensed with the need for timers and peel-away negatives to produce color print instantly. The SX-70 cameras were recognized as the most revolutionary product in the history of photography and were compared with the revolution humankind experienced with the visit to the moon (Whitford, 2001). This invention

Discussion board #9 - Coursework Example As emphasized, â€Å"preventive interventions can provide skills and support to high-risk youth to enhance levels of protective factors and prevent escalation to drug abuse† (U.S. DHHS, 1997, p. 11). As such, the interplay of knowledge, skills, and experience learned and developed by community health nurses would significantly assist in the prevention of substance abuse in children, teens, and even in adults in the community level. From the statistics gathered and revealed by the National Institute of Drug Abuse (NIDA), it could be deduced that society has not been sufficiently effective in the prevention area. As disclosed, â€Å"illicit drug use continued at elevated rates in 2010, after rising in 2009 to its highest level since 2002, according to the latest National Survey on Drug Use and Health (NSDUH). Nearly 9 percent of Americans aged 12 and older—an estimated 22.6 million people—reported using illicit drugs in the month prior to the survey† (NIDA, 2012, par. 1). The information indicates that there should be more stringest measures and strategies that should be designed and enforced to prevent the use of illicit drugs among populations at risk, especially children and adolescents. Various researches and studies have asserted that â€Å"no single treatment is appropriate for everyone† (NIDA, 2009, p. 1). This fact makes treatment challenging as the approach should cater to the specific needs of an addicted individual. It was likewise revealed that â€Å"medication and behavioral therapy, especially when combined, are important elements of an overall therapeutic process that often begins with detoxification, followed by treatment and relapse prevention† (NIDA: Effective Treatment Approaches, 2009, par. 1). As such, it could be evaluated that the principles of treatment would necessitate a more comprehensive assessment of the historical background that leads to the dependency and addiction problem of the individual.
